Cozybyte / Cookies

Only the cookies
sign-in needs.

Cozybyte uses a few cookies so a passkey sign-in can finish, so you can stay signed in, and to remember light or dark if you choose one. There is no advertising cookie and no analytics cookie on this site.

The cookies Cozybyte sets

These cookies only identify your session, one short sign-in step, or the look you chose, and your browser keeps them out of reach of other sites. They are not used to follow you around the web.

  • The sign-in cookie keeps you signed in for 30 days, or until you sign out or choose Sign out everywhere.
  • Short sign-in cookies each last 5 minutes and complete one passkey challenge.
  • The sign-up cookie lasts 15 minutes and holds a sign-up draft while you create the passkey.
  • The confirmation cookie lasts 15 minutes and remembers which address you asked a sign-in email for, so the six-digit code works only for that address.
  • The look cookie lasts 365 days and remembers whether you chose light or dark. It is set only when you press the switch in the header; until then the site stays light.
Technical details

Each cookie is HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax. On HTTPS it is also marked Secure. On the live site the session cookie’s name starts with __Host-.

  • tend_session: the sign-in session.
  • tend_challenge_signin, tend_challenge_add, tend_challenge_recovery, tend_challenge_reauth: one passkey challenge each.
  • tend_signup: the sign-up draft id.
  • tend_pending_email: the address a sign-in email was asked for.
  • cozybyte-theme: light or dark.

What this site does not set

Cozybyte does not set cookies for advertising, cross-site tracking, or a third-party analytics product. The Windows app keeps its sign-in in Windows Credential Manager, and Activity stores health events on the PC. Those are local records, not browser cookies. Both are described in the Privacy policy.

03

Stripe’s page

When you pay, the browser continues to Stripe. Stripe may set its own cookies on that page under Stripe’s privacy policy. Cozybyte does not read those cookies. Card numbers stay with Stripe.

04

How to clear them

Sign out of Cozybyte and these cookies are cleared. You can also remove them in the browser’s site settings. Clearing them signs you out. It does not delete the account. Account deletion is described under Your choices.
